Foundation and Support Beams
My parents were kind enough to snap some more photos of our site today and they show, in good detail, our basement walls, support beams, the GEO mat lining, and our ONE (ugh) basement window. They were adventurous enough to get on the backside of the lot and get some pictures from some different angles then I usually get them :)
Slight complaint... second day of nice temperatures and it doesn't look like Ryan Homes has done a damn thing. In fact, nothing has changed since last week... and STILL no basement window! I don't understand why they aren't framing on days that the temperatures aren't in the single digits (like they were earlier this week)....

Hey Dustin. How are things going for you guys?
ReplyDeleteHey Brittany. Things have been slow. And i mean a screeching halt. We were doing so well and we had a problem with a basement window and now theres been nothing. No progress for almost two weeks, still no window, and no communication from anyone. Needless to say im a bit concerned at this point. Sent our PM and email yesterday have not heard back. Thinking ill call our SR tomorrow. I just want to know whats going on!
DeleteHow yall doing Brittany?
DeleteHi Dustin. I would be concerned as well. I have been checking your progress via your blog on a daily basis hoping you all are moving at a stead pace. I am so sorry to hear this. Is there someone above the PM you could contact? I know that sometimes the SR goes off of what the PM states.
DeleteYou should also get your PM's cell number so you can contact him directly
DeleteWe are doing well. I have made one post on my blog dealing with the selections and I have yet to update it. We just had our pre drywall walk-through last Wednesday. We are expecting a big snow storm come Friday night so, I am hoping that doesn't slow down progress.
DeleteHeard about the storm! We're in the same boat with that so I'm hoping things don't get delayed more than they already are! How did you pre-drywall walk-through go? Any glaring issues? I'd be interested to know!
DeletePre-drywall went well. Thank you for asking! We didn't have any glaring issues. The only issue we had was that they placed one of the ceiling fan rough-ins in the wrong room. He said he will quickly fix that.
DeleteHi Dustin, you may want to check with your PM for their working schedule on your home. This helps and manages your expectations. My PM was very good with keeping us on the weekly schedule for our build. They also tend to have the PM meeting on Thursday in our region which also helped me keep up to date.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! Our PM has not been very communicative from the beginning. Unfortunately its been a lot like pulling teeth to get any information lately. Needless to say im a bit frustrated.
DeleteThis is more than unfortunate. It's unacceptable!
DeleteAgree - trying to get answers today!
DeleteKeep me posted. My husband and I have you in our thoughts and prayers.
DeleteThanks Brittany. Still no update on anything. Apparently my PM has been on vacation the last two weeks. Which is fine just wish i wouldve known that before.
DeleteRidiculous you weren't informed.
DeleteDustin- he should have a gnatt chart for your project. Ask for it. My PM pretty much hated me by the time my Milan was done. Honestly I didn't care..you aren't building the house to be friends. Your PM fails to realize that in the end, his bonus still rests with you giving him 10's. My Pm still tells me this Bc I haven't submitted mine survey yet. (Still waiting for 30 day stuff)...RECCOMENDATION- DO NOT LET THEM PUT THE UPSTAIRS THERMOSTAT IN THE MASTER. The upstairs heats unevenly...I'm moving my come spring...
ReplyDeleteAt your pre con the PM should have laid out his communication schedule with you. I got calls every Friday afternoon unless we spoke earlier in the week.
In the end, you will have to end up being rude and going over his head. After the first time we did this we had no more issues.

ReplyDeleteDustin, I had a few people ask me about my blog so I decided to recreate it. I will post a lot of pics of my process and complain a lot :)
