We've Broken Ground!

Ground Breaking

This week has been very busy with getting everything ready for Christmas break, etc., but we were so happy to see yesterday that they have finally broken ground on our new house!  We now have a big hole in the ground, some cement, and (what looks like) the beginnings of a driveway.  As of today, they have the footers done, the tiling done, and the gravel laid.  Next up should be walls and flooring.  We're having some good weather here this week (in the 60's in December... what!?!?) so I'm hoping that they'll have the concrete done by Christmas, but we'll see.  It's raining today so I doubt they're doing anything.

Also wanted to give a shout-out to our PM, who for the past couple of weeks has done a VERY GOOD job at communicating things with us and who is bending over backwards to get our basement modifications done (bath rough-ins relocated).  THANK YOU, ANDREW!

Here is some photos of our ground-breaking:

    1. Thanks Brittany! And congrats on your new home. If you don't mind me asking, how has your experience been since ground breaking? Any delays? Also do you have a blog that I can follow?

  2. Thanks Dustin. The breaking ground part was delayed for us. We signed our contract back in late July. We had to wait on permits, and our cul-de-sac to be built before they broke ground. Our tentative closing date is March 15th. I do have a blog but, I haven't updated it yet. The last post was on the selections and selling our home.

  4. Fun stuff, make sure you are following the inspections on your county site. You can get a pretty good idea when stuff is going to happen and don't have to rely on the PM.

We closed on time, Invest in a dehumidifier, the amount of water Im pulling out of my basement is crazy.. will be like this for about the first year or so.

    1. John, as always, thank you. I've already picked up the dehumidifier. I'm having trouble locating our inspections on our county website because it searches by address and our address (I guess because it's new?) doesn't come up with anything yet. Weird. I'll have to ask about this.

At any rate, congrats on closing. Hope all is going well and Happy New Year!

    3. It's coming along, but they forgot to notch out one of my basement windows when they poured the concrete! We're hopefully getting this corrected though!
